  • Why choose chiropractic?
Chiropractic care offers a range of benefits, including pain relief, improved mobility, improved posture, improved range of motion, reduced inflammation, and improved physical and mental wellbeing. Chiropractic care also offers a non-invasive, natural approach to healing, without the use of medication or surgery.
  • Is chiropractic safe?
Yes, chiropractic treatment is safe when performed by a qualified and experienced chiropractor. At Komoka.Care, Dr. Matt is committed to providing safe and effective treatments. We also take the time to explain the treatment process and answer any questions you may have about your care so that you feel comfortable during all stages of your care.
  • What is a chiropractic adjustment?
Chiropractic adjustment or manipulation is a manual procedure that utilises the highly refined skills developed during the Doctor of Chiropractic’s intensive years of education. The chiropractor typically uses their hands, or an instrument, to gently manipulate the joints of the body, more specifically the spine, to restore or enhance joint function. This often helps resolve joint inflammation and reduces the patient’s pain. Chiropractic manipulation is a highly controlled procedure that rarely causes discomfort. The chiropractor adapts the procedure to meet the specific needs of each patient.
  • Can children benefit from chiropractic care?
Yes, children are very physically active during activities of daily living as well as from participating in sports. Occasionally children may experience symptoms including back and neck pain, stiffness, or discomfort which can be treated. We believe early spinal screening is important for all children in order to detect any possible spinal conditions. At Komoka.Care, we understand the importance of providing gentle, safe, and effective care for all of our patients, including children.
  • Does it hurt when you hear popping sound during a chiropractic adjustment?
No, the popping sound is caused by a release of gas from the joint and is a normal part of a chiropractic adjustment. It is not painful and should not cause any discomfort.
  • What conditions are usually treated by chiropractors?
Chiropractors specialise in treating a variety of neuromusculoskeletal conditions, including neck pain, back pain, headaches, radiculopathies, extremity pains and more. Our chiropractors can also provide advice on posture and ergonomics, as well as nutritional and lifestyle advice.
  • What can I expect at my first visit?
During your first visit to the chiropractor, you can expect a comprehensive evaluation of your condition. This typically includes a physical exam, an assessment of your lifestyle and medical history, and a discussion of your symptoms. Depending on your individual needs, the chiropractor may also require further tests, such as imaging or blood tests. The chiropractor will then give their recommendation.
  • What risks are associated with chiropractic treatment?
Chiropractic treatment is generally safe when performed by a qualified professional. However, it is common to experience mild side effects following chiropractic adjustments, such as temporary discomfort, muscle soreness, headache, or fatigue. It is important to consult with your chiropractor to discuss any potential risks or side effects associated with chiropractic treatment.
  • Are chiropractors opposed to medical treatment?
No, chiropractors are not opposed to medical treatment. In fact, many chiropractors work in conjunction with medical doctors to provide the best possible care for their patients. Chiropractors believe in treating the body as a whole, taking into account the physical, mental, and emotional factors that can affect overall health. Chiropractic care is not meant to replace medical treatment, but rather to complement it.
  • Will my health insurance cover the costs of my chiropractic treatments?
Komoka.Care Family Chiropractic is registered with most health insurance providers in Ontario. Many of the health insurance providers make provision for the reimbursement of chiropractic services. However, it also depends on each person’s payment plan as to the extent to which they are covered. The best option to find out is to contact your health insurance provider for further information.
